The iconic body of Marilyn Monroe is an hourglass shape. Hip measurements are about the same as bust with a smaller waist. They key is to proportionally dress your top and your bottom while accentuating the waist.

APPLE SHAPE

Women with an apple shape tend to have more weight around their midsection  creating a round torso look, hence the "apple" reference. Ladies with the apple shape should try to create contrast by using angular lines to counteract the roundness and softness of their bodues.

DO WEAR:

  • Wrap tops
  • Seaming on blouses/anything with a corset-style structure
  • Pleating and gathering under the bust
  • Drapey empire styles, BUT NOT too voluminous
  • Straight-leg bottoms that will build a sense of proportion with your upper half
  • Higher-waisted pants and pants with a bit of stretch that will hold your stomach in

Over 45% of women have the ruler shape body. That means all your measurements are roughly the same. So when dressing for that shape its best to wear tops that have a more defined waist and bottoms that make your hips look wider.

Happy Birthday to the Queen!
She made it ok for our bodies to be "Bootylicious"

My measurements are 36-29-43 and based on that I have a pear shape. If you have a pear shape some clothes that may work for you are  tops that draw more attention to the waist. Corsets or shirts with a cinched waist always work. I say you can whatever you want as long as the confidence is there, but for those of you who want more direction start with v-neck tops, bold or bright tops, fitted waist tops, and structured shoulder tops like these lovely ladies below.

Saturday was our first casting call for our fall fashion show! Here is a photo of the staff and some of the models that tried out!
I'm in the middle since I'm a shorty ;)
I'm wearing a body conscious royal blue sundress and Gucci sandals.
